Alpha-7 bacterin-toxoid is recommended for the vaccination of healthy, susceptible cattle, including bred and/or lactating beef and dairy cattle, against disease caused by Clostridium chauvoei, Cl. septicum, Cl. novyi, Cl. sordelli and Cl. perfringens Types C and D. Immunity may be provided against the beta and epsilon toxins elaborated by Clostridium perfringens Type B. This immunity is derived from the combination of Type C (beta) and Type D (epsilon) fractions. Composition: Alpha-7 bacterin-toxoid is prepared from chemically inactivated cultures of the above organisms with a special oil adjuvant to maximize immune response. Contains gentamicin as a preservative.

Dosage: Using aseptic technique, inject a single 2-mL dose subcutaneously. Calves vaccinated under 3 months of age should be revaccinated at weaning or 4-6 months of age. A 2-mL booster dose is recommended annually.

Precautions: Store at 35-45 F (27C). Avoid freezing. Shake well before using. Use entire contents when first opened. Do not vaccinate within 60 days of slaughter. Swelling at the injection site may occur. Anaphylactoid reactions may occur. Antidote: Epinephrine.
